Welcome to our community garden! From March to October, we have over 70 beds ready for you to grow your own plants and veggies. Plus, there's a free compost and wood chip drop-off site right next door!
We are closed for this season but if you are interested in joining us, just shoot us an email at stlbellgarden@gmail.com.
We start creating our list of new gardeners in January and bed sign ups are in March.

We are gearing up for the fall which means cleaning up your summer crops, squeezing out the last of your tomatoes and covering your bed for compost! If you planted greens, beets and other roots you may have a fall harvest too!
We have a few upcoming events at the garden:
Sept: 22nd: Hosting Micah Project Volunteer group (through SLU)
October 10th 730pm-830pm "Tour de Plants" and will be having a special night of story telling by Young Friends of St. Louis and Campfire.
November 1st: Winterizing deadline, please winterize your beds, cover with mulch or plant your cover crops.
Fall Garden Meeting: Saturday in October (date: TBD, watch your emails)
Work days: rotating, please check the calendar of events for updates!
*volunteer opportunities available, we always need help with bed and garden maintenance. We rely on volunteers to help some of our gardeners maintain their beds, and in the fall we need help repairing beds!**
2025 and 2026 Accomplishments

Expanded Native Habitat -
We maintained our three new perennial beds with support from a Brightside STL grant. These beds were designed to enhance habitat for native pollinators and continue to thrive.

We hired an arborist to help with our pear trees to improve future harvest and trim some large trees that were in danger of causing damage to our sheds and pavillions

We installed a Mobilemini with the help of the Missouri Baptist Foundation grant!

We repaired multiple beds and provided assistance to gardeners in need thanks to the Missouri Baptist Foundation Grant!
Infrastructure Improvements
Community Engagement and Education
We welcomed multiple school field trips, hosted neighborhood meetings, and partnered with SeedSTL to offer hands-on gardening classes for residents and volunteers.
Beekeeping Program Growth
Our apiary remained strong throughout the season, with five healthy, productive hives (2 were donated by a local beekeeping neighbor) supporting both pollination and community education

We secured a grant for a new storage shed and completed repairs and cleanup along the north fenceline. These improvements strengthen our capacity to support community garden beds and ongoing native pollinator initiatives.
Our Mission
To be a space that promotes affordable healthy food options, urban agriculture, bio-diversity and can be a self-sustaining space for learning for the neighborhood and local community organizations.
